Located just two kilometres south of the island¿s capital, Los Cancajos is known for its black volcanic sands and a breakwater that shelters the bay, creating calm waters throughout the year.<-p> On arrival, the next three and a half hours are yours to spend as you wish. Stroll along the scenic promenade, pause at local shops, or simply relax by the Atlantic. - Along this route you will discover the most relevant places, points and characteristics of the town of Santa Cruz: its religious buildings, its squares, its society, its artistic treasures...
By visiting its cultural heritage, we will be a witness of the evolution of the town: since its very beginning, that is, its foundation just after the Spanish conquest, up to the present time. At the pier, we will be welcomed by a guide who will provide us with a cordless headset in order to allow us more movement freedom at the same time that we listen to his explanations. From there we will depart on a train-bus which will take us along S/C de la Palma’s main avenue: Avenida Marítima. During this transfer, we will be able to enjoy a short panoramic view of the city. Upon arrival at the replica of the Santa Maria of Columbus, our walking tour through the most remarkable buildings and streets of the city will start. We will be introduced into the history and past of the island related to America, and its important economic aspects, its Flemish art works and many other topics related to trade with Europe which have had a deep influence on the history and development of the island. Take a short refreshment stop before continuing to the newly inaugurated Junonia Interpretation Centre, which gives you a better idea of what La Palma was in the history of the Canary Islands. Finally, return to the ship on foot.

The programme
- Jump onto the bus and discover why the island of La Palma has been declared a “Biosphere Reserve” by UNESCO.
- You'll start at a very special observation spot: the San Bartolo viewpoint. It's mountains, hills and sea as far as the eye can see.
- Then you'll get back on the bus and head to the El Cubo de la Galga forest to take a stroll in the heart of this evergreen woodland, among laurel, holly, heather and many other native plants.
- Once you emerge from this lush oasis, you'll arrive at San Andrés y Sauces, one of the island's first colonial villages: it will enchant you with its ancient charm, with its cobbled streets and typical houses.
- From here, you'll arrive at Charco Azul and its unique natural pools: dips in the lava rock filled with seawater.
- But the real surprise awaits at the historical Ron de La Aldea rum distillery: come in and taste the traditional rum of La Palma, and raise a toast to your day. ¡Salud!

THE ORIGINS OF THE “BEAUTIFUL ISLAND”
“Beautiful island” but also “continent island”, La Palma brings together various natural habitats in 700 km². Pass with your guide through the forest of El Cubo de la Galga and get ready for an unprecedented walk, along the crater of the San Antonio volcano. In the middle, you’ll discover the colonial roots of a small village, the sanctuary dedicated to the island’s patron saint and the flavors of a typical lunch.

The programme
- Board the bus and get ready to discover all the best of La Palma with your guide, from north to south.
- You start from the San Bartolo viewpoint, where your gaze becomes immersed in a landscape of terraces, gorges and sea.
- Now you come to the forest of El Cubo de la Galga, overflowing with indigenous island plants, like laurel, heather, the strawberry tree and the Canary Island bellflower.
- The walk continues along the little streets of San Andrés y Sauces, a historic colonial village. What do you say to a dive into the 16th and 17th centuries, inside the sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves? It’s an example of the typical colonial style of the Canaries as well as the island’s main pilgrimage site.
- After lunch in a typical restaurant, it’s back southwards for the grand finale: climb to the crater of the San Antonio volcano, for a high-adrenaline walk along its edges and a view with a “wow” factor.
