Backed by a dense woodland filled with citrus-scented pine trees and fringed by sparkling waters, Makris Gialos Beach is loved by locals and tourists alike, and this excursion is the perfect opportunity to soak up its charms.<-p>

Begin with a 30-minute transfer from Argostoli port, arriving at the dreamy sands for a window of approximately three hours. Coated in powder-soft sand, this child-friendly beach has been recognised with one of Europe¿s prestigious Blue Flag awards thanks to its cleanliness and the quality of its facilities.<-p>

With three hours free time here, activity-lovers can look at water sports options (season and weather dependent), such as hiring jet skis or paddleboards, and there are various walking paths to follow behind the beach, allowing access to those beautiful pine forests.<-p>

Alternatively, relax and revel in the sunshine, perhaps strolling over to one of the nearby beach bars for a drink and snack. There are also restaurants nearby for those wanting a heartier local meal. The excursion then concludes with a 30-minute transfer back to the port.<-p>

Important Information:<-strong> a limited number of sun umbrellas and sunbeds is available at the beach whose use attracts additional costs not covered by the price of the tour. Guests should be aware that Makris Platis Gialos is a highly popular destination and hiring a sun umbrella-sunbed will depend on availability on the day of the tour. Guests are further recommended to bring a towel, a hat and high-factor sunscreen. This tour is available from May until early of October and subject to weather conditions.<-p>

A 30-minute visit of this moving site, where thousands of Italian troops were killed by Nazi troops in 1943, is an important chance to remember a tragic historical episode.<-p>

Afterwards, a 20-minute drive moves the excursion to the Katavothres sinkholes. During a 20-minute stop, witness this rare geological phenomenon, in which seawater disappears underground via a system of conduits and cavities. Then it¿s back on the coach for the 30-minute transfer to Kourkoumelata. Spend 45 minutes exploring the flower-filled alleys and palm-lined streets of this intriguing hamlet, which was rebuilt after a devastating earthquake to look and operate like a Swiss village by shipping magnate Giorgos Vergotis.<-p>

A 40-minute drive from Argostoli port begins this trip, leading to the Drogarati Cave, which is believed to be around 150 million years old. During a 60-minute visit, investigate the vast Chamber of Exaltation (famed for its incredible acoustics) and the Royal Balcony, so-called because of its sea of stalactites.<-p>

Located a 25-minute drive from the caves, the traditional fishing village of Agia Efimia surrounds a pretty bay that s backed by pine-dense mountains. During approximately 30 minutes of free time in the village, browse the shops for souvenirs and art or hunt out locally made almond sweets, mandoles. Or simply stroll around the harbour, watching brightly coloured fishing boats bobbing in the water.<-p>

Next is a one-hour drive along winding roads from Agia Efimia, high up to the ruins of a Fortress, previously named Castle of Saint George, whose hilltop position offers outstanding panoramic views over Argostoli Bay. A final 30-minute here will give you the opportunity to receive information from your guide about the place at the external of the ruins. The excursion concludes with a 25-minute transfer back to port.<-p>

Enjoy the sunshine and stunning scenery at the famous Myrtos Beach on this five-hour excursion. Nestled between the slopes of Mount Agia Dynati and Mount Kalon Oros, this spectacular beach is renowned for its appearance in the 2001 film Captain Corelli¿s Mandolin.

Myrtos Beach is well known for its role in the acclaimed film Captain Corelli¿s Mandolin, starring Penélope Cruz and Nicolas Cage. However, it is equally celebrated for its unspoilt natural beauty and regularly features among the most beautiful beaches in Greece.<-p>

Your excursion begins with an approximately one-hour coach journey from Argostoli to Myrtos. Upon arrival, there will be a short ten-minute stop, allowing you to purchase refreshments, drinks and any last-minute essentials before boarding smaller vehicles (minibuses) for the descent to the beach. You will then arrive at a breathtaking stretch of white pebbles and turquoise waters extending for approximately 2.5 kilometres.<-p>

You will have around three hours of free time to enjoy at your leisure. Take a stroll along the shoreline, swim in the crystal-clear waters, or simply relax and capture photographs of the spectacular Ionian scenery. After your time at the beach, you will rejoin your vehicle for the approximately 30-minute return journey to the port.<-p>

Important Information:<-strong>The beach is made up of pebbles- therefore, we recommend wearing suitable beach or water shoes and bringing swimwear, sunscreen, a beach towel, a hat and sunglasses. Sunbeds are not included in the excursion price but may be hired locally, subject to availability. As Myrtos is a very popular beach, space within the public area for laying out your beach towel may be limited. Please note that there are no beach bars or parasols available on the beach. This excursion is weather dependent and operates from June until the end of September. In the event of strong winds, Myrtos Beach may be closed at short notice for safety reasons.
