You'll leave San Diego behind and board a deluxe coach for a sightseeing tour with a change of scenery straightaway: the city fades away, the hills stretch out in front of you and you're in charming, surprising Temecula Wine Country.
You'll cross neat vineyards and enjoy a delicious lunch while you taste the local wines and admire the view over the rows of vines that seem to have been painted. In the afternoon, take your time to visit the historic center of Temecula: see its boutiques, tasting rooms, soak up the slow pace and relaxed atmosphere.
In the late afternoon you'll arrive at the hotel surrounded by vineyards. Freshen up, relax and get your senses ready: end the day savoring a Mediterranean-themed dinner under warm lights among the vines. Your California journey has only just begun.
Day 2 – the Pacific, palm trees and New Year by the ocean
Enjoy breakfast with fresh, local produce, then it's time to set off. You'll cross Los Angeles and take the Malibu coast road with the ocean always on your left. The sight of the Pacific doesn't need your attention, but it's impossible not to look.
You'll stop for lunch with ocean views and some coastal cuisine: a break you wish would never end. Then it's off again, heading north to Santa Barbara, the “American Riviera”. You'll visit the elegant, timeless Old Mission Santa Barbara, before enjoying the absolute luxury of your ocean-front hotel. Now you can start getting ready for New Year's Eve. Will you be able to rein in your enthusiasm?
The bar is raised for the evening: an exclusive dinner in the Funk Zone, the creative heart of the city. Followed by the celebration which tempts you the most: an exclusive New Year's evening at the Ritz-Carlton or a local atmosphere enjoying organized events and, if you like, a champagne cruise around the port. The perfect evening to start the year in the right place.
Day 3 – European villages, endless beaches and the real California
After breakfast, you'll leave Santa Barbara and cross the Santa Ynez Valley. You'll arrive at Solvang, a Danish village in the heart of California. You can stroll past windmills, half-timbered houses and along cobbled lanes, follow the guide and indulge in a Danish pastry from an authentic bakery.
You'll then head to Pismo Beach for some me-time: the pier, surfing, the sand that seems to go on forever Breathe in the ocean air, then settle down for some lunch between the sky and the Pacific Ocean.

Day 4 – Castles, cliffs and the unmistakable Pacific Highway
You'll enjoy breakfast and follow the coast road - you'll know you're on to something special straightaway. At Elephant Seal Beach, near Piedras Blancas, you can stop to see a sight that is authentic and irresistible in equal measure. hundreds of elephant seals lying on the beach - huge, idle and noisy. There's no need for special effects, they do it all themselves.
It's then on to another spectacular experience: Hearst Castle. You'll walk through the stunning rooms, on the panoramic terraces and listen to amazing stories, with the Pacific ocean shimmering below you. It's like living in a splendid vision of someone who decided "too much" just wasn't enough.
You'll have lunch and then get ready for one of the most thrilling parts of the trip: Highway 1 crossing the Big Sur region. The cliffs, the bends, the wild ocean. No words are needed here, simply look out of the window.
You'll reach Monterey when the light is gentler. Have a stroll along Cannery Row, listen to stories about the port, then on to the hotel overlooking the bay, to get ready for dinner in one of the city' most iconic restaurants.
Day 5 – European villages, endless beaches and the real California
Enjoy the last time you wake up by the ocean, then it's a leisurely goodbye to Monterey. At Half Moon Bay, a lunch with sea views awaits, with the waves as the final soundtrack... or nearly.
At last, San Francisco: the city you'll recognize, that needs no introduction. A tour with your guide will show you the best parts at walking pace, some views you'll recognize straightaway and then back to port.

- Our excursion in San Diego begins with a visit to the district Gaslamp, which is home to many beautiful Victorian buildings and numerous restaurants, bars, shops, boutiques and art galleries.
- From here we move to the famous Balboa Park to admire its gardens, museums and theaters.
- Next is upscale and picturesque La Jolla. One of San Diego's most scenic spots -- the star of postcards for more than 100 years -- is La Jolla Cove and Ellen Browning Scripps Park on the bluff above it. The walk, along the coast offers some of California's finest coastal scenery. Just south is the Children's Pool, a beach where dozens of harbor seals can be spotted lazing in the sun. In the village of La Jolla you will find myriad of exclusive shops and eateries.
- From La Jolla, depart for the pier.
- Time permitting we will visit Old Town, considered the historic center of San Diego as well as the birthplace of California, characterized by particular buildings in Spanish colonial style.
