  • From the hinterland to the beach, the Samaná peninsula offers a wild natural landscape that’s worth discovering.
  • Hop on an open truck with your guide: . explore a local fruit & vegetables stall where you’ll discover the typical products grown in the Dominican Republic, taste freshly made Dominican coffee and chocolate, renowned for their rich flavor, and the famous mamajuana, a spiced rum-based liqueur from the Dominican Republic. Mamajuana is known for its unique blend of rum, herbs, spices, and honey, traditionally steeped in a large, bottle-shaped container. You’ll also enjoy some leisure time at the souvenir shop nearby, perfect for picking up local crafts and mementos.
  • Prepare to snap up as many photos as you can at Bahia Rincon and as soon as you come to the foot of Cape Cabron mountain: the view opens on to the clear sea, revealing its bed.
  • From here on, you’ll have free time to swim at Playa Rincon and experience Caribbean relaxation in the shade of the mangroves. Afterwards, the diving continues in the shallow waters of the Caño Frio river, fed by underground springs.
  • The grand final? It has the flavor of a typical Dominican lunch that awaits you in a local restaurant.

The programme
  • We get on an open-top safari bus that takes us far away from the most civilized places into Samaná's lush nature.
  • We get off at the start of a trail that will take us to discover the island’s true beauty. 
  • We continue on foot and, during our trek in the rainforest, have the chance to observe interesting sights and learn a lot about how the locals use some specific plants.
  • We reach a spot of unspoilt nature just off the track overlooking a natural freshwater pool and remain enchanted by this marvel created by Mother Nature.
  • Here we have some free time to enjoy the peaceful forest as we sip a drink and swim in the cool mountain waters before walking back to our bus. 
  • On our way back to Samaná,we stop at a ranch where we can use the toilet and purchase a drink (not included) before going back to the ship.

The programme
  • We board a comfortable catamaran and set off on our excursion through the crystal-clear waters of the Samaná bay.
  • With the sweet breeze of the Caribbean caressing our cheeks, we enjoy beautiful views of the coast where large bays and small inlets alternate overlooked by the deep green of the lush tropical vegetation.
  • We stop over at Punta Lirio to cool down and enjoy some excellent local fruit.
  • We then drop anchor at Cayo Farola, famous for its diverse colourful fauna. We dive into the waters to enjoy an unforgettable snorkelling session: explore the sea bed and observe colourful tropical fish and coral.
  • After the dive, we get back on board and sail to Cayo Levantado, an enchanting islet with sandy beaches in the shade of coconut trees. We can relax on the sand.

  • We board a motorboat and, after receiving all the safety instructions from our guide, we are ready to explore the turquoise waters of the bay for an unforgettable adventure.
  • Our destination is the Los Haitises National Park, a true natural miracle filled with islets and caves, large mangrove forests among the most beautiful of the Caribbean and lush rainforest.
  • We sail around Cayo de los Pájaros, one of the numerous limestone hills that emerge from the seas filled with sterns, pelicans and other marine animals. * Along the way, our guide will point out the different species and provide a lot of interesting information about the local animals.
  • The captain moors the boat in an area from where we can admire the mysterious caves decorated with rock drawings depicting the Gods and everyday life of the Tainos, the ancient population that lived in this area. We remain enchanted by the fascinating stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over the centuries and that ornate the caves and then return to the port.

  • Having met our local guide, we get on our safari truck and start our offroad excursion on the Samaná peninsula.
  • We make our first stop in a typical family-run local farm where we learn a lot about cultivation techniques and enjoy some excellent fresh fruit and freshly-ground coffee.
  • We then move on to Playa El Valle, an unspoilt white sandy beach surrounded by green hills where the sea shows itself in all its glory.

  • We leave the port behind us in an open-top safari bus and drive 15 minutes to reach our first stop where we will give a new dimension to fun: the canopy tour, a type of sport tourism which allows you to explore the forest from a great height with a series of platforms and steel wires.
  • We head to the visitor centre where we are given safety instructions as well as all the information necessary about our equipment and tour.
  • We reach the first platform after a walk along roads and paths. Hooked by means of a steel cable harness, we speed over the trees and enjoy the thrill of flying from one platform to the next.
  • We remain suspended over the lush tropical forest and admire breathtaking views over the bay of Samaná where our beautiful ship is anchored.
  • After this adventure, we head back to the visitor centre where we can rest before returning to the ship.

The programme
  • We leave the port by coach accompanied by our guide who will point out the main sights along the way and embark on a sightseeing tour of the western coast of Samaná, capital city of the province.
  • We stop off first at La Churcha for a visit from the outside and to take a few pictures. The church dates back to 1860 and truly deserves a visit due to its extraordinary history: it was originally built in England but was taken apart piece by piece and rebuilt in Samaná.
  • We then continue on to the Sanchez, one of the main centres of economic, political and social development in the country during the early 20th century.
  • The town started growing in 1884 when the railway connecting Sanchez inland started attracting a few important investors and some rich Dominican families built spectacular Victorian homes here.
  • We enjoy a stroll through the centre and let ourselves be enchanted by the unique contrast between amazing historic homes and picturesque wooden houses.
  • After our walk, we have some free time to wander around the crafts market before heading back to the port.

Here you can take a dive, maybe an Instagram-prized selfie, and then go back. Simple, but in style.

The programme
  • We board our boat and set off on a thrilling excursion off the coast of Samaná on the blue Caribbean sea.
  • This region’s waters are particularly suitable for large cetaceans, who choose this warm, placid and sheltered Caribbean location to mate and reproduce.
  • For centuries, thousands of humpback whales leave the North Atlantic seas to spend the winters in the Samaná waters. In some periods of the year, the whale population can reach 300, therefore the likelihood of spotting whales is very high!
  • While in the open sea, we study the waves and soon spot huge humpback whales emerging from the waters with their jumps, fin flicks and dives part of a complex mating ritual.
  • We keep the cameras at the ready and, on the first occasion, take amazing pictures of this incredible natural spectacle that has been part of the natural culture for centuries: rock formations depicting spouting whales from Pre-Colombian times have been found on the Samaná peninsula!
  • We end our excursion with a break at Cayo Levantado, an enchanting islet with sandy beaches in the shade of coconut trees. Here, we can relax on the white sand, go for a swim in the turquoise waters or do some shopping.
