MONTE SERRAT: BETWEEN SKY AND SEA, FAITH RISES ON A FUNICULAR

In a nutshell

A vintage tram that climbs uphill past palm trees and stunning landscapes, a church that looks out over the city and the chance to buy a coffee suspended between sea and sky. Monte Serrat is the balcony of Santos: spectacular, colorful and ready to surprise.

Main stops
  • Panoramic climb up Monte Serrat on board the funicular.
  • Independent visit to the Church of Our Lady of Monte Serrat, the religious symbol of Santos.
  • Free time for a local coffee with views and a panoramic trip along the coast.

If you thought that a funicular is simply a means of transport, get ready to think again. At Monte Serrat, it's a journey through time: a tram from another era that will transport you slowly up, while the city gets every smaller below and the blue of the ocean extends beneath you.

At the summit, the silence changes pitch. Before you stands the Church of Our Lady of Monte Serrat, the patron saint of Santos: small, white and welcoming. Inside, you can breathe in the history of the place, while outside, you can take a deep breath of freedom. And between one photo and the next, there's time to buy a coffee and enjoy stunning views — the perfect way to feel at peace with the world (and with caffeine).

The descent is gentle, but the tour continues: a scenic trip along the Santos coastline, home to the world's longest garden by the sea, as certified by the Guinness Book of Records. Palms, sand and smiles: the last postcard of an experience that will take you to new heights…in body and mind.
