Beautiful landscapes, some exercise and local delicacies await you on this bike tour, the perfect way to explore the sunny island of Bornholm. This biking tour will take you up the coast from Rønne to Hasle with a local as your guide. When you arrive to the village the guide will take you to the Herring Smokehouse. The smoked herring is one of the specialties on Bornholm and is also referred to as the "Gold of Bornholm" and during your visit to the smokehouse, you ll experience why this is the such a delicacy. The tasting menu also includes the Danish rye bread and beer or a soft drink. Your guide will take you back towards Rønne passing through beautiful forest areas and the lovely diverse scenery that Bornholm offers covering a distance of 25 km and easy terrain: a lovely experience for everyone.

The tour departs from Rønne going through Almindingen Forest across the island to Svaneke. This village is well preserved with its old merchant houses and is still to this day a market town. Enjoy a visit and explore the many small artists shops and demonstration workshops around the village. Next on the tour is Snogebæk with its unique offshore harbour before continuing on to the village of Dueodde that you will visit. This is where you will find the best bathing beaches on the island. It s said that the sand in Napoleons hourglass originates from these beaches. Our next stop is Nylars Church, one of the four unique round churches still providing a religious service today. Besides being an unusual church, it has also been a place of refuge through the ages. The scenic drive along the coast back to Rønne concludes your excursion.

Walking down its cobbled streets you will enjoy the view of its typical timber framed houses dating back to the beginning of the 1900s giving you a sense of the contrast between historic and modern architecture as you continue into areas of the city with constructions from the post-WWII era that served as replacement for the houses bombed by the Red Army at the end of the war. Round off your tour with a visit to Hjort s Factory with over 150 years of history serving as a museum and still producing ceramics and stoneware in the old-fashioned style. You will have a little free time in the city centre before returning to the port.

Few ways are better to explore a destination than through its cuisine, and by choosing this comprehensive tour, you will get a chance to get a real taste of what Bornholm has to offer. Start with a drive through the countryside on your way to the idyllic Lille Gadegaard wineyard and enjoy a little tasting of locally produced wine. Continue your trip across the island to Hallegaard, a farm that specialized in organically handmade sausages which you will get to taste as you hear interesting details about their production. Your next stop is Svaneke on the east cost of Bornholm, where you will visit the local brewery housed in an old merchant s house dating back to the mid-1800s and get to see the process of beer in the making while you get a taste as well. After this complete gastronomical experience, sit back, relax, and enjoy a drive through Almindingen forest on your way back to the pier.

SVANEKE BREWHOUSE & VILLAGE

SVANEKE BREWHOUSE & VILLAGE

Leave the port, board a bus, and enjoy a 40-minute drive across the island to reach Svaneke, the town of artists and artisans. Dating back to the 13th century, the town is a famous tourist destination with its red-roofed, half-timbered houses lining the narrow streets. It is also reputed as centre of arts and crafts including glassblowing, ceramics and the Brewery House where organic beer is produced. Enjoy a moment of conviviality during your 45-minute visit to a brewery and make a toast with a glass of this delicious drink. The tour continues with a pleasant 40-minute guided walk in the town and additional 30 minutes free time to explore on your own. After boarding the bus, a short drive will take you to your last place to see in town, Østerlars church. Enjoy a 30-minute stop to take photographs of the largest of the island s four churches and still being used for religious services. A 20-minute scenic drive from the church takes you back to Ronne for a short sightseeing bus tour (15-20 minutes in total) on the way to the port and your ship.

MEDIEVAL BORNHOLM

A journey back in time and a unique experience to discover the medieval way of life on the island of Bornholm. The tour begins with a coach drive to the Medieval Center, located near the town of Gudhjem and a few metres distant from the famous Østerlars church. As soon as you enter this open-air museum you will feel like being hurled back into middle ages. The Museum provides a living experience of medieval scenes involving people, animals, houses, a watermill, and a fortified rampart. Try out the bow and arrow or the soldier s equipment while hearing the fires of a cannon at set times. Take a stroll through the streets of this medieval village watching the villagers going about their day and chores. After a couple of hours spent in medieval times, you will return to present time with the coach drive across the island to the harbor of Rønne.

THE ISLAND OF BORNHOLM

THE ISLAND OF BORNHOLM

The tour departs from Rønne harbor driving north towards the largest castle ruin in Northern Europe through the village Hasle. Driving along the coast you ll be able to spot the coast of Sweden just 32 km across the ocean. Hammershus is Bornholm s most popular attraction, dating back to the early 1200s. The archbishop of Lund commissioned the castle and it was in use until the Danish King abandoned it in 1743. People from all over the island began to retrieve the stones and left the castle as you can see it today. After visiting the site, the tour continues along the north-east coast towards the village of Gudhjem, located on a steep rocky outcrop. Here you ll get to enjoy the preservation of the original environment on a guided walk through the streets of the village. Your last stop will be the visit of Østerlars church, located 5 km south of the village, the largest of the island s four churches. The coach drive through Almindingen Forest on the way back to the port is a good opportunity to admire the island s captivating scenery.
