With the help of a local guide, you will learn how to use an e-mountain bike before riding the historical route of the forts, whizzing along with zero effort and zero pollution between wooded slopes, walls and views across the port. Your snack is as Genoese as it gets: Ligurian focaccia in front of a hidden viewpoint.

• Did you know that the city wall that surrounds Genoa is the longest in Europe? Ride along it on an electric bike and you'll see the most beautiful sights of the city and its surroundings from an unusual perspective.
• A local guide will present you with your e-mountain bike: it's easy to use * a few tips and you'll be ready to jump into the saddle.
• In just a few pedal strokes, you'll be at the Via del Sale, the ancient salt route that once linked the Ligurian sea and the hinterland of the Po valley, then immediately on to the route of the forts that follows the ring of the Mura Nuove * or "New Walls" * which were built in the 17th century.
• With zero effort, you'll tackle the 400 meters of climb up to the Sperone fort, where nature rules, and then on to the Begato fort, which has been occupied by soldiers and rebels over the centuries.
• Finally, a real treat. Or rather, two: after a surprise shortcut through the undergrowth, take a breather at a viewpoint that is the best-kept secret of the Genoese and snack on authentic Ligurian focaccia whilst gazing out over the city.

In an inflatable boat, get to know Liguria from the perspective of the sea, amid Mediterranean scents, the pastel-colored fishermen’s houses of Boccadasse and Camogli, elegant villas overlooking the sea and dark cliffs. • Viewed from the sea, Liguria is at its best: cross the waters of the Golfo Paradiso, passing a succession of coastal landscapes you only get to see from this viewpoint.
• In front of you, scenes from a period movie: sheer paths and perfectly preserved fishing villages, with brightly colored houses all packed together. The first is Boccadasse.
• The water is like a mirror in which you can see the reflections of rocks and all the surrounding greenery.
• Leaving behind the rows of villas, you’ll go from Bogliasco to Recco, and from the boats anchored at the port of Camogli as far as Punta Chiappa: a narrow stretch of rock which extends out to sea from the promontory of Portofino, surrounded by the regional natural park.
• Now you absolutely have to dive into this protected area, amid the rocky seabed and blue waters which are home to small fishes. With a bit of luck, you could spot them too!

• If you'd like to learn how to prepare traditional Pesto alla Genovese, you can do so at Zeffirino, the restaurant that after almost 150 years and five generations continues to remain a true Genovese institution.
• Take a few steps in the center and you end up at the Mercato Orientale, an indoor marketplace from 1899 with stalls offering ultra-fresh produce.
• Here, together with your guide, you'll wander amid Zeffirino's trusted suppliers, and will learn how to select high-quality cheeses, pine nuts and basil. Among the eight varieties existing in nature, only Genovese basil has the right aroma. And to remember this, a surprise that... will take roots awaits you.
• Now, roll up your sleeves. At the Zeffirino restaurant, surrounded by original vintage furnishings, you'll follow the chef's instructions to recreate the recipe of this sauce symbol of Genoa just as it was made in the past, using a marble pestle and mortar.
• Amid stories about the city and anecdotes featuring the restaurant's famous guests – popes, politicians, music and movie stars – it'll soon be time to taste your pesto on focaccia croutons.

• Arrive at Zecca square, in the heart of Genoa's old town. Then, you'll arrive at your first adventure on the funicular, in front of a changing landscape: the higher you go, the more the views open up, until you get right to the top of the Righi hill. You're in the area of the ancient forts and the Baroque walls that once protected Genoa, and the view is incredible: from the city to the sea! 
• This is where the Righi Astronomical Observatory is located, as close as possible to the stars. 
• Your voyage of discovery of the solar system begins in the Planetarium: there are two UFOs near Saturn, but it's not an alien invasion. Pan and Atlas, the planet's moons, really look like flying saucers. 
• A projection put on exclusively for you will reveal the secrets of the sun. Then you'll discover them with your own eyes, with the powerful telescope pointed at our star.

• Accompanied by the guide, board the Zecca-Righi red cable car to a point high above the city. Following an old path that runs along the 17th century walls you'll arrive at Forte Sperone, the most impressive fortress.
• Continue to Forte Puin, which provides a 360° view. You're on the trail of the “neviere”. The name derives from the pits that were dug to collect snow (“neve” in Italian) and used to keep food cold. Essentially the refrigerators of old!
• On to Forte Castellaccio and then a stop for food at Ostaia de Baracche, a real institution here in Genoa. Focaccia and cappuccino await you!

Take your seat on the train and get ready to arrive at a terminus…straight out of a postcard: you'll get off at Monterosso, the biggest fishing village of the Cinque Terre and a UNESCO world heritage site. All the essence of Liguria is concentrated here: crystal-clear seas, pastel-colored houses clinging to the rocks, as well as medieval stories and tales of fearsome pirates. And when it's time for lunch, the choice is yours!

• Enjoy the journey: your train runs along the rocky Ligurian coast to the Cinque Terre National Park, among the fisherman's cottages, steep terraces of vines and cliffs soaring above the sea.
• Nestled between sea and mountains, its villages are full of centuries-old stories and traditions just waiting to be told: like Monterosso, the largest of these, cut in half by the hill of San Cristoforo.
• This is where you'll stop and stroll through the historic center which has grown up around the ruins of the castle of the Lords of Lagneto. Did you know that in the 16th century it was surrounded by no less than thirteen towers?
• You're standing in front of what remains of the most epic defense system in the Cinque Terre: three round towers, the medieval tower and the Aurora tower: today it offers sea views, but once upon a time it was a stronghold protecting against pirates. But there are also 14th-century churches, historic oratories and the villa of a poet who made the village his "muse". Can you guess who?
• After so much exploring, it's time to pamper your palate: it's up to you to choose where to have lunch, take your pick from the many restaurants hidden in the alleyways
• But if you want some advice, don't miss the local anchovies and “Sciacchetrà”: the typical local fortified wine, with a sweet and captivating flavor. Here's to your health!

• By bus we arrive in Camogli. The town is famous for its seafront promenade of typical Ligurian-style homes: façades painted as “trompe l’oeil” depict flowers and closed shutters.
• From here, get on your boat to San Fruttuoso: between the blue of the sea and the green of the Portofino Regional Natural Park lies this small village, famous for its majestic Abbey.
• By boat you reach Portofino. This is undoubtedly the most elegant and exclusive town on the whole riviera and has always been frequented by many international stars.
  Don't forget to take a photo in the “piazzetta”, the legendary central square. You may not know it but there is said to be a haunted house in Portofino. In fact it has been closed for years and no one will open it... so who knows?
• By sea you reach Rapallo. In your free time, don't miss out on tasting some local focaccia.

• This is also the site of the Genoa Aquarium, which, with its ten thousand square meters and 71 tanks, provides a real tour of the world's oceans, including steely-eyed sharks and multicolored tropical fish. • After a brief training session in the Ancient Port area, drive your segway, a kind of electric scooter, through the “caruggi”, the narrow streets of Genoa, until you reach Piazza De Ferrari, discovering hidden attractions along the way. Opposite you is the Ducal Palace, for centuries the residence of the Doge and now the center of the city's cultural life.
• Continue to Piazza delle Erbe, once a market selling spices from the East and fruit and vegetables produced by the “besagnin”, the local market gardeners, so-called because they came from the Bisagno river valley. Here is an interesting fact: in the middle of the square there is a marble statue of a cherub which is probably the only monument in Genoa never to have been moved from the place where it was originally installed.
• Pass through Porta Soprana on your electric “chariot” which by now you'll have mastered to perfection, and within minutes you'll pass the home of the explorer Christopher Columbus then, as you thread your way through the alleys, you'll come to the oldest church in the city, Santa Maria di Castello.
• Last stop is the Sottoripa porticos, with their characteristic fry shops and multiethnic stores. It feels almost like an Arab souk.
