Your first stop will be at the oldest winery in the region, which has belonged to the same family for more than 7 generations. Before a tasting of this sweet aperitif wine, you will learn about the traditional techniques for producing Moscatel. The excursion continues passing by the "Parque Natural da Arrabida", a national park created to protect the beautiful unspoilt landscapes, on a road offering beautiful views of both the Atlantic and the vast surrounding area. The last stop of the tour is Setubal. Although mainly an industrial city and a commercial fishing port, the city reveals a fascinating historical centre and offers surprising attractions. The excursion continues to Belém Tower for admiring one of Lisbon s landmarks during a short photo stop. Please note: on Wednesday calls, a visit to the Maritime Museum will replace the visit to Ajuda Palace. Guests using a wheelchair can take part, but they must be advised that the excursion includes long periods of walking. If they want to participate, they must be accompanied by a paying helper to aid with getting on and off the coach and that wheelchairs must be collapsible-foldable since the coach has neither a ramp nor a lift. Due to parking restrictions in force in Belém Tower area, the photo stop at the site is not guaranteed- if the stop cannot take place, guests will be able to take pictures of Belém Tower from the coach. Off-road sections involve travel on uneven dirt roads, and a climb of about 120 steps is required from the car park to Sintra town. The tour is unsuitable for guests using a wheelchair, with mobility, shoulder or neck problems and pregnant women. During summer, local authorities may restrict access to Sintra mountain due to fire risk, which could alter the itinerary and omit Cabo da Roca and Memoria. In this case, guests will spend more time in Cascais and-or Sintra. Minimum age to participation: 6 years.   • We begin with a sightseeing coach tour of the centre of Lisbon including
  • Leaving Lisbon we travel through the protected area of the Sintra national forest on narrow roads that lead us to a world of mystery.We visit the fabulous, and impressively lofty Palacio da Pena, which sits immersed in a stretch of woody terrain in the park of the same name. Associated with Portuguese discoveries, the palace was built on the foundations of an old convent erected to celebrate the sighting of Vasco de Gama's returning fleet. Unmissable sights in this monumental building include the beautifully preserved chapel and Manueline-style cloisters. 
  • Together with the National Palace with its high, conical chimneys, the Palacio da Pena is one of Sintra's main attractions.
  • Next we head to a local restaurant to enjoy a typical Portuguese lunch. 
  • Before returning to the ship we head to Lisbon's Belém district to admire the tower of the same name and the Monument to the Discoveries, which was built in 1960 to mark the five hundredth anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator and to celebrate the geographical discoveries made by Portuguese navigators from the 15th century onwards.

  • Lulled by this eclectic atmosphere, we take our seats in a local restaurant, where we will be served a typical dinner of Portuguese dishes.

The programme
  • Two days in among the treasures of Lisbon and its coast, a typically local dinner and lunch, a fado show: these are the ingredients of a Portuguese-flavored tour to remember.
  • The excursion starts in the Alfama district, the site of São Jorge Castle, the city's emblem. Visit Lisbon Cathedral then take in the views from the Portas do Sol belvedere to capture the city center and the Tagus from above.
  • Enjoy a true Lisbon evening with a typical Portuguese dinner and a fado show.
  • The next day, visit Queluz Palace before setting off by bus to visit the town of Sintra, described by the poet Byron as a "glorious Eden”. Enjoy a guided tour of the town and sample some local flavors.
  • The next stop is Cascais: stroll around the docks of this fishing village before taking the coast road again to Estoril and the mouth of the Tagus.
  • Back in Lisbon, visit the district of Belém, with its Manueline style marble architecture, the Jerónimos Monastery and the Belém Tower. Now do you see why it's known as the "white city"?

The programme
  • We board an amphibian for an unusual fun tour of Lisbon starting from the mainland and ending on the waters of lake Tago. We let ourselves be enchanted by the unique atmosphere of Praça do Comércio, surrounded on three sides by elegant palaces and overlooking the river Tago, then we head towards Avenida da Liberdade, the city’s main street also providing plenty of shade for those who decide to go for a stroll along it. We continue to Praça Marquês de Pombal which boasts the monument to Marquis of Pombal, the governor of Lisbon between 1750 and 1777, at its centre.
  • We make our way to the Belém district where our driver takes our amphibian into the waters of the Tago river. Here we can taste the famous Pasteis de Nata.
  • We sail along the waters and admire the Monument to the Discoveries, a homage to 15th and 16th-century Portuguese sailors, and Belém Tower, a bastion surrounded by water just off the coast that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its architectural features. Our gaze is once again captured by the Jerónimos Monastery, which we can admire from a different perspective.

The programme
  •         We set off from the port of Lisbon in our comfortable off road for an adventurous itinerary. Our first stop is at Cascais, a historic fishing village that is now one of Portugal's favorite seaside resorts.•        Following the coastline, we then turn onto a dirt track heading for the unspoilt scenery of Serra de Sintra with its century-old trees, evocative landscapes, and picturesque villages.

•        Finally, we arrive at Cabo da Roca, a promontory that overhangs the Atlantic Ocean at the most western point of continental Europe where we make a quick stop to admire the incomparable panoramic views.

•        The last stop on our jeep tour is at the evocative town of Sintra which charms every visitor with its fairytale atmosphere

  • As we get off the ship, we immediately spot our tuk tuks, picturesque three-wheeled taxis that will take us to discover the marvelos of Lisbon in a unique fun way. Lisbon is Europe’s westernmost capital, a city of contrasts in which history and modernity combine perfectly.
  • We delve into the atmosphere of the Atlantic city admiring its architectural masterpieces and unforgettable views of Tago river. The Alfama district, the oldest in the city, takes us back in time with a touch of saudade * its narrow cobbled alleyways welcome us with their smells, Fado sounds and Medieval architecture of old nostalgic Lisbon.
  • Along the way, we stop many times to capture the beauties of the Portuguese capital and delight our palate with a delicious pastéis de nata, the irresistible custard tart typical of Lisbon.

The programme
  • We leave the city of Lisbon on our coach and head south through the estuary of the river Tagus crossing one of the suspended bridges.
  • We do a photostop from Sesimbra Castle, the last of the Portuguese castles on the sea to maintain the medieval moth.  Its walls have a unique view over the village and the sea.
  • We get back on our coach and venture into the amazing Arrábida Hills stretching between the blue ocean and green mountains and offering one of the most spectacular views of the coast just outside Lisbon. The reserve safeguards the Atlantic shrub, generated by the microclimate of the Serra de Arrábida and its proximity to the sea.
  • We then continue towards Azeitão, a small town surrounded by olive groves and vineyards that cover the gentle hills of the Portuguese countryside.
  • We stop in a winery, where we learn how the famous local wines are produced and enjoy a delicious tasting session of this “Nectar of the gods”, ending an exceptional day with a cheerful toast.

  • From Lisbon we will head towards Sintra, referred to by the great English poet Lord Byron as a "glorious Eden", and visit its Royal Palace, the historic summer residence of the Portuguese royal family.
  • During the visit we have some free time for shopping.
  • We then return to Lisbon, a city of contrasts with both modern and classic architecture. Lisbon is bathed in extraordinary light that accentuates the variety and intensity of its colours, and is brimming with unmissable sights
  • We then stop in the Belém district and the residential area of Restelo, where we see the Jerónimos Monastery Church.
  • The tour ends with a panoramic drive to the Belém Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries, followedby some leisure time, before the retunr to the pier.

The programme
  • On foot is the best way to get to know Lisbon's aromas and soul. You will visit the contrasting quarters of Alfama quarter the oldest in the city and Baixa the downtown area with the imposing Comercio and Rossio squares. In Alfama explore the tiny squares and alleys, whitewashed houses with tile panels and wrought-iron balconies adorned with flowers, churches and belvederes and view the Romanesque Cathedral. Downtown is known for the perpendicular design of its streets, centered around Augusta street it is dominated by the Pombal style.

  • Guests must be able to walk approximately 4.0 km over uneven and cobblestone.

The programme

We begin with a panoramic coach tour that introduces us to some of the most interesting parts of Lisbon, after which we travel to the Baixa district, which was entirely rebuilt under the supervision of the Marquess of Pombal following the earthquake of 1755. 

Having arrived in the city we stop at the Rossio, the name commonly given to Dom Pedro IV Square, the beating heart of the city from where all the main streets fan out. Here we have a guided walk and will be able  to admire the elegant historic buildings that line the square. 

Returning to the coach, we travel along the River Tago until we arrive at the Parque das Nações, the area built to host the Universal Exhibition in 1998. We'll be fascinated by the beauty of the park with its highly modern buildings, masterpieces by some of the greatest names in contemporary architecture. 

We head for the Oceanarium, home to over 10,000 animal species and more than 350 plant varieties. The visit is fun and fascinating for kids and adults alike, an opportunity to learn more about the various marine ecosystems faithfully reproduced here. The central tank, which presents the various life forms that populate all the oceans of the planet in over 5,000 m3 of water, is truly unmissable.

  • Here we are met by a traditional tram with wooden interiors that has been reserved for our use. Trams are the most common mode of transport in the city and many are highly evocative historic vehicles. They connect the various areas of Lisbon, a city built, like Rome, on seven hills.
  • We head by tram to the most characteristic districts of the historic centre, admiring their magnificent sights. On board the tram we can sample Lisbon's typical dessert, Pastel de Nata, washing it down with a delicious glass of Port.

  • From Lisbon we will head towards Queluz, famous for its lovely National Palace Rococò, today visited by tourists considered a valuable museum and still used for important receptions. The royal residence known as the 'Portuguese Versailles' is , a magnificent construction with elegant lounges and manicured gardens. We will visit the Queluz National Palace park and gardens that are inspired by the famous gardens of Le Nôtre. 
  •  We proceed straight to Sintra, a town where Lord Byron used to stay in the early nineteenth century: the great poet named it 'magnificent Eden', both for the undisputed charm of the place and for its mild climate. : enjoy a guided walk to explore the village before the drive back to Lisbon.

Combining parts by bus with some free time in Rossio Square, the heart of Lisbon, this approximately 4-hour excursion is an introduction to the beautiful Portuguese city. The first part of the tour includes a bus ride of about 45 minutes to the Belém area, an opportunity to discover Portuguese Manueline, a decorative style identified with Portugal. The stop in this area of the city will give you the opportunity to admire from the outside the masterpiece of this decorative style, the Tower of Belém, built in the early 16th century, a few years after Vasco da Gama s first voyage to India. After taking a few photographs, get back on the bus for a panoramic tour of Lisbon passing by some of its main attractions such as the modern part - rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake under the supervision of the Marquis of Pombal - the Square in his honour with its memorial, the Avenida da Liberdade and the 18th century Estrela Cathedral. Afterwards, you will have about an hour of free time in Rossio Square, the beating heart of Lisbon, with its many bars, restaurants and attractions such as the Statue of Peter IV (the Soldier King), the Theatre and the splendid Art Deco façades of the Railway Station and Café Nicola respectively. At the appointed time, re-board the bus to return to the port.
