Karlskrona, capital of the Blekinge province, is an important naval port with a strong maritime tradition dating back 300 years, surrounded by a beautiful archipelago with charming summer villages. After meeting your guide, who will provide you with information in English only, the tour begins with a short sightseeing tour of Karlskrona, admiring the most important sights of the city until you reach the Bryggareberget lookout. Afterwards, you will take a walk through Sweden s classic postcard picture, idyllic Brändaholm. With its 43 typical red cottages with white spires silhouetted against the blue sea and sky, created in the 1920s, it is one of the most photographed areas in Sweden. After the visit, a coach ride of about 30 minutes through the Swedish countryside takes you to the picturesque village of Kristianopel, founded in the 1600s by the Danes and considered the first Renaissance town in the Nordic region. With its defensive walls, old houses, beautiful gardens, and narrow streets, it is a hidden gem that, together with the cafes and picturesque harbour area, offers a great opportunity to relax and take some excellent photographs. Stroll with your guide along the village streets before having some free time to explore on your own what impressed you most. Then drive along the coastal road to the old fishing village of Torhamn and admire fields of asparagus, lavender and, with a bit of luck, seals. Before returning to the port, you will make a short photo stop in Torhamn, where your guide will give you some background on the history of the Russian submarine U137, which ran aground a few nautical miles from the village in 1981.
